The practice of Forest Therapy, also referred to as Forest Bathing, is inspired by the practice of Shinrin-Yoku, a research-based framework from Japan. The focus of this framework is to increase health and wellness through immersion in nature. The term Shinrin-Yoku translates to “Forest Bathing.”
Extensive research studies have shown that routine exposure to nature through the practice of Forest Therapy/Bathing has many health benefits especially for cardiovascular health. Additional benefits include improving the immune system. It also reduces cortisol levels in the body. Cortisol is the stress hormone. Additional benefits of Forest Therapy/Bathing include improvement in mood and cognition.
A Forest Therapy Guide assists people in experiencing an immersion in nature through a series of invitations that will help you tune into your senses and less in your thoughts. It’s like breathing in the medicine of the Forest!
